Society and culture impose a set of implicit tasks on human development; through socialization, fulfilling them ends up becoming the individual's own aspiration. Our childhood learning — at home and at school — was systematic. Old myths and adages such as “study to become someone in life” (we are someone from the moment we are born), rather than doing us good, have done more harm over time: they take root as dogmatic thinking, limit people from pursuing their true dreams, and cause a widespread impoverishment of reason and attitude — diverting them from the truth and making them slaves to their own lies. We obviously study to gain knowledge and the capacity to assimilate it: to be pragmatic and able to adapt to whatever change circumstances present.
This diatribe lets human beings become servile to others who, with cunning and shrewdness, exploit the coexisting marginality — never letting them even glimpse the door to progress, to the point that many do not even know the meaning of the verb “to progress.”
From the early twentieth century until today, individual behavior has not changed much: we always guard our own interests and not those of society, of those around us, of the state and its structure. We still do not know how to coexist; we act as isolated cells in an existential system crying out for a structural change of thought, hearts, spirit, and action. We struggle to tolerate, to respect, and even more to listen to positive things; we tend to distort reality, finding it easier to be talking entities repeating what we once heard — without truly knowing what we transmit.
I believe we are still in time to change our way of living — life as the center of our actions. We pursue several goals: one is to make the most of our knowledge which, properly channeled, yields spiritual and material benefits; another is knowing how to confront, endure, and solve the obstacles before us. That is why working together, as an integral system, is an urgent necessity. I am fully convinced that success, triumph, and progress will come if we act and think with respect, ethics, love, humility, positivity, will, and the desire to live.
